Your Privacy
Rootie (collectively, "Rootie," "we," "our," or "the Company") will respect your statutory privacy rights when collecting, holding, storing, using, transmitting, or otherwise processing your personal data, and this Privacy Policy Statement explains our privacy practices. We are committed to complying with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Chapter 486 of the Laws of Hong Kong). This notice does not limit your rights as a data subject under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. Please read the following carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding the handling of your personal data. This policy may be revised from time to time. The term "personal data" in this Privacy Policy Statement has the meaning as interpreted in the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

 

Categories of Personal Data Collected
During your use of our services, you may be required to provide your personal data from time to time, including but not limited to your name, gender, age, passport or identity document number, date of birth, telephone number, fax number, address, email address, credit card information, education level, occupation, family income, interests and hobbies, etc. If you refuse to provide relevant information and/or provide incomplete or incorrect information, we may be unable to provide you with certain services. If you are under the age of eighteen, you must obtain the consent of your parent or guardian before providing any personal data to us. We will not collect your personal data without your consent.

 

How We Collect and Use Your Personal Data
We may collect your personal data when you shop, participate in related promotional activities, or apply to become a member. If you wish to receive certain services from us, some personal data is required and will be marked as "Required Data" on the membership application form. If you wish to receive the services you have requested, you must provide us with this personal data. If some personal data is provided voluntarily, it will not be marked as "Required Data," and you may decide whether to provide it to us. If you wish to receive any of the following services, you must provide us with your relevant personal data:

1.      To participate in and maintain your membership in our organization;

2.      Accumulate reward points as a member;

3.      We will notify you of the benefits and perks available to you as a member;

4.      Enjoy member benefits;

5.      Notify us of any revisions to the membership program;

6.      Data cleaning and customer data updates; and

7.      Other ongoing customer support services directly related to members

We may use any personal data provided by you (whether required or voluntary) to enable us to provide you with the following additional services and/or conduct the following activities:

1.      This allows us to have a clearer understanding of our clients' statistical data;

2.      We conduct internal research and analysis so that we can properly provide you with rewards, services, product information, or gifts that meet your specific needs;

3.      Market research;

4.      Let our consultants provide follow-up services;

5.      Distribute customer satisfaction surveys;

6.      Sending out communications to valued clients; and

7.      Latest information on VIP customer activities

 

Disclosure of Personal Data
If we collect your personal data, we will:

1.      We will inform you (through this Privacy Policy statement or through a separate notice) that we are collecting your information and the purpose of the personal data we collect;

2.      In relevant circumstances, you will be given the opportunity to opt out and refuse any use of your personal data (including, but not limited to, the circumstances described in paragraph 5 below); and

3.      Inform us how we store your personal data and how you can access, modify, and delete such personal data.

We keep your personal data confidential, but we may disclose it to the following persons (whether in Hong Kong or overseas) for the purposes listed in paragraph 3 above:

1.      Any subsidiary, affiliate, holding company, related company, or company or joint venture under the same controlling company;

2.      Any agent, contractor or third-party service provider (collectively, the “Third-Party Providers”) that provides us with administrative, telecommunications, computer and other services for the processing and storage of your data.

3.      Any actual or proposed transferee, assignee, or successor to all or any part of the assets, shares, or services of Rootie; and

4.      Government and regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies and other organizations as provided or authorized by applicable laws within or outside Hong Kong.

Third-party suppliers are obligated to maintain confidentiality and are bound by contractual terms to protect your personal data privacy. They may only use your personal data for the purposes listed in paragraph 3 above, and not for the purposes of the third-party suppliers (including direct marketing).

 

Direct Marketing
We may also use your personal data, including your name, phone number, address, and email address, for direct marketing purposes. In accordance with the law, we will not use your personal data for direct marketing unless we have obtained your consent (including an expression of no objection). If you consent, your personal data may be used for the following purposes:

1.      Inform you about the launch of new products and other promotional offers; inform you about our promotional activities, including (if applicable) public relations events, exclusive customer gatherings, product sets, store opening events, store announcements, exhibitions and the latest news;

2.      Notify you of services and activities offered at or outside of department stores for promotional and reward purposes;

3.      Latest news on marketing incentive programs, birthday offers, free product trials, digital events, roadshows/street promotions, and in-store promotions;

4.      Notify you of any joint promotions or activities with shopping malls, department stores, credit cards, banks, trade associations, celebrity magazines, television, websites, cultural, artistic or musical groups/organizations, charities or non-profit organizations; and

5.      Collaborate with brands under Rootie for cross-brand promotions and/or events (if applicable).

If at any time you do not wish us to use your personal data for the direct marketing purposes described above, you may contact us at info@rootie.net to exercise your opt-out right. Please note that when exercising your opt-out right, we may need you to provide personal information for identity verification to ensure the adequate security of your user data.

 

Security
Your personal data provided to our company will be securely stored in our system and can only be accessed by authorized personnel who have received training on our privacy policy.

 

Cookies
Cookies ("data stored on your local device") are a function that stores your browsing history on your computer or mobile device in compressed and encrypted text file format. The cookies used on this website do not identify individual users, and the information collected through cookies does not include your email address, name, or other personal information. Rootie may access cookies on this website in the following situations:

1.      When a user browses this website and needs to switch to different pages, the necessary information will be temporarily stored to make it easier for the user to navigate the website.

2.      When Rootie or a company commissioned by Rootie conducts user surveys or needs to analyze website browsing behavior to provide better services in the future.

Even if Rootie uses cookies on this website, you can still change your browser settings to choose whether or not to use cookies.

You can also delete stored cookies on your computer and mobile device. (Please refer to your browser's software manual for details.) Additionally, please note that if you refuse to use cookies on this website, some content on this website may not display correctly or you may be unable to use this website.

 

Right to Access, Correction and Deletion of Data
Under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, you have the right to check whether we hold your personal data and to request access to, correction and deletion of any personal data of yours in our records. If you wish to exercise any of the above rights at any time, please submit a written request to us and email our Personal Data Privacy Officer as described in paragraph 10 below. You may also request that we remove you or your personal data from any operating postal or distribution lists. If you do not wish to receive our promotional and direct marketing materials, please contact our Personal Data Privacy Officer via email as described in paragraph 10 below and indicate "Confidential" in your communications. In responding to your requests, we may request certain information about you to verify the authenticity and validity of your access request.

If you wish to access or correct your data, provide general information about our policies and practices regarding personal data, or provide information about the types of personal data we hold, please contact us via email at info@rootie.net. Please include your name and membership number or contact number so we can follow up.

 

Data Retention
We will only retain your personal data for the purposes necessary to perform the personal data we are using or will use, including any directly related purposes. When you conduct business with us, we will retain all your transaction records for auditing purposes. Our internal policy is to retain relevant data for a reasonable period and to delete personal data that is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected. As stated in paragraph 8 above, you also have the right to request the deletion of your personal data held by us.
